I was very sad to receive an email sent to all members of BURA recently announcing its intention to initiate voluntary liquidation.
In the words of the BURA Chair Jackie Sadek, the organisation “established 20 years ago … has been a pioneering organisation in regeneration. It has succeeded in making the case for regeneration at a time when the concept was little understood. It has popularised this term that has brought the public, community and private sectors together to improve the lives of communities in this country. It argued the case for economic, social, and environmental aspects alongside physical development.”
Much of the work of HTF reflects these shared objectives and this reminds us that the current economic climate is a real threat to the continued improvement of the built environment for everyone.
