Annual Conference: Volunteering in the Historic Built Environment - who, how, why and can we do it better?

Annual Conference: Volunteering in the Historic Built Environment - who, how, why and can we do it better?

Joint event with Kellogg College

This event will build on our research projects and seminars from 2016 which, partly funded by HEFCE, and carried out in conjunction with Oxford University's Department of Education, look at the underlying reasons for volunteering in general, abut particularly in the heritage sector. The research considered not only why volunteers offer their time to heritage, but why and how heritage organisations seek them out, and how they recognise, or fail to recognise, volunteer contributions.

With a programme of high profile speakers and heritage organisations, this conference is a must for anyone working with volunteers within the heritage sector.

Confirmed speakers include:

Iain Standen, CEO, Bletchley Park Trust

Dr Sean O'Reilly, Director, IHBC

Dr Oliver Cox, Heritage Engagement Fellow, TORCH, The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities

NCVO, on Funding and Investing in Volunteers

Marg Naylor, Better Safer Barton

Richard Tuffrey, Regeneration Service, High Peak Borough Council & Staffordshire Moorland District Council

Dr Helen Campbell-Pickford, Department of Eucation, University of Oxford

Liz Bates, Heritage Lincolnshire, tbc
